Many organisations suffer with their capacity management. Problems typically include: Small organisations tend to suffer from too few dedicated staff; Large organisations tend to suffer more from organisational and process issues; All organisations tend to suffer from getting stuck in the vicious circle of fire-fighting: too little proactive work causing too much reactive work; The processes are often not documented and repeatable; Perception of insufficient or ineffective capacity and performance tools. These are just some of the typical problems that capacity management functions encounter. This presentation is aimed at: identifying ten of the most common barriers to effective capacity management; providing some suggestions for solutions. Please note this is not intended to solve all of your capacity management problems, just to give you, hopefully, a few new ideas!
