摘要

The high incidence of neonatal nosocomial infections in both developing and developed countries require a comprehensive analysis of risk factors and problems, administrative and financial support together with dedicated work of neonatal health care workers and infection control practitioners.NICU infection rates have increased during the past decade with the increasing survival rate of VLBW infants. The rates differ between 6.2-33% of NICU admissions and 4.8-22 per 1000 patient day. The VLBW infants are more likely to die when infected, especially if they are infected with Gram-negative organisms or fungi. Infants who developed late-onset sepsis also have a significantly prolonged hospital stay.
