A Quasi-Dynamic Model for Energy Consumption Analysis in Lifts

Energy efficiency has become a key issue in lift design. Reduction in energy consumption produces systems with higher efficiency and better markings from related standards such as VDI4707. However, real and non-standard tests are usually required to assess design improvements. This paper presents a tool to estimate the energy consumption of a lift based on a quasi-dynamic model which includes all elevator components and operation conditions (regenerative and non-regenerative topologies). It provides information about the energy distribution and energy saving improvements to evaluate future designs. The model has been validated with real measurements.
