Innovation with Safety in the Elevator Industry

摘要

As the world economy becomes increasingly international, a consistently high level of safety is expected by the public. At the same time there is a worldwide demand for safe, reliable, innovative products. A process for ensuring safety while enabling innovation has been developed under the ISO umbrella and forms the basis of Performance Based Codes. The fundamental ISO process and its application in National Standards are described in this paper. Trends toward Performance Based Standards worldwide, is also discussed.
