The Telemetry Control Subsystem (TEL) of the LargeBinocular Telescope (LBT) is responsible for capturing sets of time-sampled telescope control system data, referred to as streams. Thesestreams can originate in any of the LBT telescope control subsystems andare delivered over a dedicated 1 Gbit/s network to a telemetry archive.The telescope control subsystems are autonomous entities which controltelescope hardware through low-level interfaces (e.g., enclosure, mirrorcell, pointing and mount control, etc.). The stream type, characterized according to the main associated sub-system, and the sets of variables which comprise a telemetry stream arecurrently pre-defined in a MySQL database. A graphical user interfacedeveloped in Qt provides the functionality which allows the user to starta pre-defined stream, set the parameters under which the stream shouldbe initiated, and the option to generate a graphical view of the datastream. The graphics are handled by MATLAB and its accompanyingGUI builder, GUIDE. The actual data stream is written out to a series ofHierarchical Data Format (HDF) files; the HDF files serve as the streamarchive which is tracked by the MySQL database.
