摘要

Using a crystal chemical model (or ionic potential approach), it is possible to formulate and synthesize novel nanocomposite coatings that are very lubricant-friendly. MoN-Cu coatings presented in this study are typical examples providing very low friction and wear and extreme resistance to scuffing under boundary lubrication. Surface analytical studies (TOF-SIMS and XPS) of sliding contact surfaces confirm the formation of low-friction, wear- and scuff-resistant boundary films.
