A computer procedure for determining the friction regime in rolling element bearings has been developed. The base of this procedure is a theory elaborated by this author that takes into consideration the contact of rough bodies as a stochastic process with the two-dimensional probability distributions: the distributions of the peak heights of one body and profile ordinates of the second one have been taken into account. The expectations for the deflection of an asperity and the microcontact pressure have been calculated as functions of the dimensionless elastohydrodynamic (EHD) film thickness. The input data for the reported procedure conform the conditions of the fatigue tests on bearings N308E that are being performed at the Institute for Machine Design and Tribology, Leibniz University, Hanover.
