Comparison of Parasitic Infections of Boa Constrictor from Mainland Belize and the Surrounding Islands

A comparison was made between boas from mainland and island habitats in Belize to determine which parasites were harbored by each and if there were differences in infection rates between the two locations. The boas from the mainland were infected with more species of intestinal parasites than boas from islands. Both populations were infected with an intra-erythrocytic Hepatozoon species.
