The centrifugal compressor of CKD Energo driven by the Ukrainian gas turbine GT 3000 works for the underground storage of natural gas in northern Moravia near town Stramberk. The paper presents the results of experimental investigations of surge limits and anti-surge control function at three typical levels of the compressor speeds. The position of stability points on characteristics is significantly influenced by reference Mach number. This conclusion is not considered in anti-surge control (ASC) setting. Setting conditions were suitable for high rotor speeds. On the basis of the obtained experimental data it can be concluded, that the working area of the gas storage compressor can remarkably be extended at low rotor speeds by correction of the ASC activation.
