Recently, the condition under which ladle refractories are used has become more severe, because the production of high grade steel has increased under a full production situation. Countermeasures were quickly taken to improve the ladle refractories, ladle lining management, and accuracy of the termination judgment for usable service life. As a result of these activities, ladle life was successfully improved without steel leakage accidents.
