Blends containing a high limonitic ore were tested in a sinter pot to study the effect of operating conditions and burnt lime on the sintering properties. The results showed that the addition of burnt lime improved the permeability of the sintering bed and increased the productivity of sinter. Raising the bed height decreased the productivity of sinter, but improved the coke rate, TI and mean size of sinter. Increasing the suction pressure improved the productivity of sinter. Reducing the in-plant return fine ratio favoured the productivity and RDI of sinter but not for the coke rate and Rl of sinter. The optimum operation conditions were proposed for improving the productivity and Tl of sinter.
