摘要

According to the working modes of MR devices, combining the characterization of Bingham plastic model,design principle of automotive MR damper based on mixed model of flow mode and shear mode has been bring forward. Emulate to the performance of conventional shock absorber, the automotive MR dampers were designed and fabricated at Chongqing University. An applied magnetic field increase the yield stress of MR fluids in flow annular passages, which alters the velocity profile of MR fluid in the passages and raise the pressure gradient between low cavity and high one at some given flow rates. According to the technical conditions of Changan mini-automobile, these dampers have been tested in National Center for Test and Supervision of Coach Quality. The experimental results are on the whole in agreement with the theoretical calculation data. It shows that the analysis method might be feasible for determining damping force of MR damper, and it is helpful for the design of special damping characteristic MR devices.
