A field study has been done to investigatethe effect of newly developed high color temperature fluorescent lighting (Philips ActiViva Active, T_(c)velence17000 K) upon alertness, performance, vitality and general well-being of individual employees. The new 17000 K lighting is well accepted, 86percent of the workers wants to keep the lights. The employees indicate to feel more active, vital and alert when working under the new lighting. However, these improvements have not been reflected in significant changes when using standard health and well-being surveys for workers with regular, shift-work free schedules. Further studies are needed to quantify well-being effects of lighting in larger and different working populations and in various shift schedules.
