Along with computer hardware and software technology development and increasing geological mapping requirements for mapping techniques, GIS is getting more and more attention from geologists. One of the most important factors is that GIS can provide powerful spatial database and related query/analysis functions. This paper will take the use of MAPGIS in geological mapping as an example, to mainly discuss GIS application in geological mapping during geological map database establishment.
