Windpower in Maryland: Opportunities and Challenges

摘要

Several utility-scale windpower projects have been licensed by the Maryland Public Service Commission. This paper discusses the licensing process in Maryland for new generation assets and in particular the windpower projects. Natural resource impacts are a special concern and viewshed analysis and NIMBY management are discussed. The implications of the new statemandated Renewable Portfolio Standard and the role of the federal production tax credit are also addressed.
