Unique SXF TM semi semi-cross flow scrubbers utilizing vers versatile design options unavailable with 'traditional' scrubbers will be discussed. Such designs are made possible by use of KON KON-TANE(R) Structured tower packing, specific surface area 150 ft 2/ft /3 (500 m 2/m /3), in modular cassettes ), followed by B-GON(R) mist captur capture technology. E SXF TM scrubbers meet numerous air emission control requirements with no loss of efficiency versus counter counter-current flow scrubbers. Theoretical as well as practical explanations of achievement of scrubbing efficiency in the horizontal flow re regime equivalent to counter gime counter-current design will be presented. Multiple air emission control needs and other process functions including particulate capture, direct contact heat transfer transfer, odor removal and acid gas control are all easily accomplished in a sin single scrubber vessel. Gle AEROSEP TM particle growth technology submicron particles can be grown to 1+ micron in the same scrubbing vessel, to allow for easy scrubbing of the aerosols. Example comparative design and actual project such as achievement of < 20 mg/Nm 3 Urea dust stack emission, which equates to 99.98% efficiency in the given project, combined with ammonia scrubbing in a single vessel at a fertil fertilizer facility are discussed.
