Geomodel to Seismic Feedback Loop - Method and Case Study

The necessity to validate geological models built for field reserves estimation and forecast has existed for a long time. In recent years the problem was treated mainly regarding the structure: the geomodel grid geometry relative to the parent horizons and faults. Nowadays, more advanced techniques allowing the validation of different geomodel properties have appeared. One of the ways, to cross-check static and dynamic properties of a geological model, is to introduce in the loop the attributes from 3D and 4D seismic data. Obviously this assumes the use of only seismic compliant geological models or at least partially compliant where the seismic information is reliable. This paper proposes an approach to cross-check static geological properties of a geomodel through the modeling of 3D synthetic seismic data or acoustic and elastic impedances with the help of the Petro-Elastic Model. This paper highlights the main stakes of this emerging methodology which appear as the most important at the current time.
