摘要

K12-B is the first site in the world where CO2 is being injected into the same reservoir from which it was produced as part of the natural gas. The K12-B gas field is located in the Dutch sector of the North Sea and was discovered in 1982. The gas is produced from the Upper Slochteren Formation, and initially contained 13% of CO2. Since the start of the gas production, the CO2 has been captured from the gas stream on-site. In 2004 re-injection of part of the captured CO2 commenced and numerous operations, including injection and analysis of tracer chemicals and tubing integrity surveys, have been performed in order to investigate the fate and migration of CO2 within the nearly depleted gas field. At present the injected quantities of CO2 at K12-B are too small to draw firm conclusions regarding the significance of EGR through CO2 injection. The CO2 injection did not have any negative effects regarding the gas production and infrastructure under the conditions of the K12-B field and time-lapse tubing integrity surveys found the injection tubing to remain in good condition.
