Near zero flaring in natural gas processing plants and production facilities is achievable and economically beneficial. A recently proposed rule (August 23, 2011) by the US EPA is seeking to further limit volatile organic compound (VOC) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions from natural gas processing plants. In addition to this proposed new rule, it is difficult not to see the value of compressing gas for use as plant feedstock or product instead of burning it uselessly in a flare. Application of this technology in gas plants provides good environmental stewardship and conservation of valuable resources. In addition, numerous advantages to Flare Gas Recovery are presented: 1. Recover gas rather than burning it in a flare 2. Improved public relations 3.Reduced plant fuel gas consumption or increased product sales 4. Reduced greenhouse gas emissions from the facility 5. Reduced flaring light, noise, and odor 6. Extended flare tip life
