THE DARWIN STELLAR CATALOGUE. STELLAR PROPERTIES AND PREPARATORY OBSERVATIONAL SCIENCE

This paper presents a short description of the Darwin stellar catalogue and the criteria used to select the stars. In addition, we describe some of the ongoing activities related to the astrophysical characterization of the targets and their environment, as well as a short justification of some of the required preparatory observations.
