Perceptions of IT Job Prospects: A Reality Check From College Bound High School Seniors

With the Internet bubble bust in 2000 followed by the increasing outsourcing of software development to countries like India, a perception has been created that IT jobs are disappearing in USA. This perception has led to decreasing enrollments across colleges and universities. A reality check on forecasts of demand for IT jobs does not support this perception. To explore these perceptions, we administered a survey questionnaire to seventy five college bound high school seniors in Long Island, New York.
