Guide on the safety of computer-controlled mining hoists

Existing Quebec regulations on mining equipment do not take into account modern computer-control technologies. A guide has been produced specifying how to apply current regulatory documents on mining machinery in Quebec. The guide provides specific information to users and designers on how to design, use and maintain computer-controlled mining hoists. Recommendations are also given on periodic tests and on specific components of the computer-control system. The application of the guide will ensure that the current safety level of the extraction machines is maintained when these machines become computer-controlled.
