A novel industrial coatings enhancer has been developed based on discrete, disentangled carbon nanotubes, called Molecular Rebar (MR). A new process has been developed that allows for the production of MR in epoxy-based coatings masterbatches, which can readily be incorporated into industrial coatings formulations. This MR enables industrial coatings to perform at new and longer-lasting levels in the field. Durability, toughness, and corrosion resistance are all improved. These enhancements are achieved while maintaining rheological properties which assist in good coat-ability in liquid formulations. Applications such as marine coatings, transportation, oil and gas infrastructure, general finish, and electrical coatings can all benefit from the addition of MR. Data on mechanical and rheological properties will be presented in this paper.
