TREATMENT OF DEBILITATED DENTITIONS WITH IMPLANT ANCHORAGE

Dentitions that are debilitated by multiple missing teeth, wear, loss of perio-dontal support, failing restorations or developmental anomalies can present with significant malocclusions that usually are difficult to treat in an optimal manner. The absence of teeth (Figs. 1-3) or loss of periodontal support decreases the amount of effective tooth-borne anchorage making correction of the existing malocclusion difficult, if not impossible; the clinician has a limited ability to move the existing teeth into desired positions efficiently.
