La_(0.8)Sr_(0.2)Co_(0.6)Ni_(0.4)O_(3-?) (LSCN) powders were synthesized by the combustion method and characterized by physico-chemical analyses, such as X-Ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), laser particle analysis and thermal dilatometry. LSCN protection layers were deposited on SUS430 and SUS410 alloys by screen printing technique and then sintered at different temperatures. The coated alloys were investigated in terms of high temperature oxidation behavior, conductivity and surface phase analysis. The results indicated that LSCN had a pure perovskite phase and uniform particle size distribution, as well as a good physical and chemical match with the electrolyte, cathode and interconnect materials. After 500h oxidation in air at 850°C, LSCN coating greatly improved the oxidation resistance of SUS430 and SUS410. The sample sintered at 950°C exhibited the lowest oxidation weight gain and the highest conductivity. Keywords: SOFC; coating; LSCN; SUS430; SUS410
