Interworking IP and MPLS with ATM, Frame Relay, Ethernet, and Other Data Networking Protocols

摘要

This paper discusses the business market drivers for MPLS-based convergence and its ability to interwork with various networking protocols. It includes a reference model as well as provide terminology and building blocks required for the technology. Pseudo-wires, a packet-based technology that emulates services which appear to be connection-oriented, are explained. Details are provided on ATM and Frame Relay migration to MPLS and interworking Layer 2 services with MPLS.
