Before, during and after a natural disaster, broadcasting has a major role to play in: Identify asses and monitor disaster risks and enhance early warning, information from earth sensors, to data centers to government (national) bodies is carried via satellite; For awareness and prevention in order to use knowledge and education to build a culture of safety, radio and television as a way of disseminating the information has a major role to play; For quick response alerting the population, messaging, food programs, again the most used media is broadcasting. The first case is a very technical one devoted to specialists of a certain country or in an area. Communication involved is normally based on sophisticated systems chosen for close user group applications and not for a large population. The second topic is very important but seldom practiced except just after a disaster occurred. If we want to be successful, the concerned country has to implement a real strategy. First to disseminate the culture of safety with an appropriate technical support, second to make the message so clear that it will be respected by all categories of the society and third to repeat it regularly but not too often in order to keep the awareness of a possible disaster. The third topic is a crucial one. How to alert a population about an imminent disaster? And once the disaster has happened how to use secure communication systems in order to transmit messaging, food programs, relocation information, etc?
