摘要

To reduce the volume the combustible radioactive wastes are treated at the incineration facility of the Central Decontamination Department of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. The incineration plant consists of a shaft furnace with an afterburning chamber and the flue gas purification section. In the paper a new corona-induced wet electrostatic precipitator for aerosol separation is presented. The operation conditions which influence on the efficiency of particle collection in the precipitator are discussed. The results of the gravimetric and chemical analysis are presented. The use of the precipitator decreases the number of the HEPA filters spent for dust collection and increases the life time of HEPA filters by a factor of 6-8.
