The paper provides information on the application of Regenerative Heat Transfer to the saving of a vast portion of the energy now required for thermal oxidation of Chemical Plant Process Vents that contain hazardous air pollutants (HAP). With available valves suitable for operation up to the required operating temperatures (1400'F) it is now possible to meet testing standards while saving energy. Small amounts of residual untreated gas are treated by flameless oxidation. At today's fuel prices even existing Thermal Oxidizers are candidates for retrofit. A 10 million btu burner can generate USD800,000 in natural gas reduction annually when using USD10 gas. New equations have been developed that greatly simplify understanding and application of Regenerative Heat Transfer. Commensurate CO{sub}2 savings can also be banked.
