Increasingly stringent environmental legislations have generated a pressing need for cleaner methods of chemical manufacture, for instance, technologies that reduce, or preferably eliminate the generation of waste, and avoid the use of toxic and/or hazardous reagents [1]. In this context, some of the major goals are to develop new sustainable chemical products, to increase process efficiency, and to simplify process. work-up so as to facilitate the recovery and reuse of the catalyst or reagents, and hence minimize waste.
