SOC Modeling for Lead-acid Battery and Development of SOC on -line Tester

When a lead-acid battery suffered from over-discharge frequently, the lifetime of the battery will be badly affected. If state of charge (SOC) of battery can be indicated correctly during discharging process, it will help people to know the situation of battery and to do something to avoid over-discharge and prolong the lifetime of the battery. A SOC model with regard to terminal voltage of battery, charging and discharging rate, density of electrolyte, environmental temperature, etc. was created. Comparing with the real battery test data shows that this model is correctly reflect the relationship between SOC and other parameters of battery. The SOC on-line tester has been developed according to this model and the accuracy is with ±10%.
