This study investigated the resistance and load-settlement behavior of axially loaded and drilled shafts in geomaterials at the boundary between soil and rock, termed "intermediate geomaterials". The measured bearing capacity of drilled shaft from the load test was compared with the predicted value by the classical design method and by the O'neill's method(O'neill et al., 1999). The results showed that the classical design method was conservative but reasonable agreement was achieved between the measured bearing capacity and the predicted value by the O'neill method.
