Adhesion After Hysteroscopic Surgery and Hysteroscopic Adhesiolisis

We performed two prospective, randomised, controlled studies to assess the efficacy of auto-cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel (ACP gel) in preventing the reformation (Study I) and the devolpment of intrauterine adhesions (Study II) after, respectively, hysteroscopic adhesiolysis and hysteroscopic surgery. Ninety-two women with intrauterine adhesions (Study I) and 138 women with different intrauterine pathologies (Study II) were enrolled. In both studies patients were randomised in Group A, underwent opertive hysteroscopic plus intrauterine application of ACP gel (10 ml), and Group B, underwent operative hysteroscopy alone. Adhesion scores were calculated at 3 months after surgery. In both studies Group A showed a significant decrease in intrauterine adhesions at 3 months follow-up in comparison with Group B. APC gel significantly reduces the incidence of "reformed" and "de novo "intrauterine adhesions after operative hysteroscopy.
