Inununohistochemical and Molecular Markers of Proliferation and Apoptosis in Stereotactic Bioptates of Brain Gliomas Prognosis of the Course of the Disease and the Treatment Efficacy

The increasing number of gliomas observed recently, their tendency to recurrence and to malignancy progression is a reason to develop new methods of precise determination of the tumour biology. The determination of the gliomas malignancy was supplemented with molecular analysis of the gliomas-determination of the transcriptional activity of selected proliferation and apoptosis markers in these tumours. No reliable correlation was found between the LI of Ki-67 or p53, FAS and FAS-L protein expression and the gliomas malignancy grade neither nor their response to brachytherapy. However, the correlation was found between lower malignancy grade and positive response to brachytherapy and high expression of BAX and with low expression of BCL2 protein and gene.
