Composite insulators enable to reduce the volume and the weight of power apparatus. Properly designed composite insulators realize not only superior mechanical performance but also sufficient insulation performance. Because of this performance, composite insulators are beginning to be widely applied to power apparatus. A new type of gas insulated switchgear has been developed. This newly developed switchgear has a housing of composite insulator. Because of its novel design, insulation performance of this new type of switchgear has been carefully estimated.
