Structured Grid Generation Using the Artificial Neural Networks

Methods of using artificial neural networks (ANNs) to generation of the structured grids are analyzed in this article. A general formulation of the ANNs in the form of generalized mapping functions is presented and then three different methods for using the ANNs for the grid generation are suggested. The methods are applied on some practical grid generation problems and the strong and weakness of each method is illustrated. The results show the good applicability and some advantages in comparison to other usual grid generation methods for practical grid generation problems.
