The standard orifice plate meter has previously been shown to give repeatable and predictable results with wet gas flow. The Chisholm correlation gave good wet gas predictions for cases where the maximum differential pressure was less than 500"WC. The CEESI JIP standard orifice meter data and analysis showed that when applying the de Leeuw wet gas Venturi meter theory to orifice meters the same phenomena exist. That is the orifice meter, like the Venturi meter, showed a relationship between the pressure loss ratio to the Lockhart Martinelli parameter that was strong at low gas to liquid density ratios and Lockhart Martinelli parameters but growing weaker as the gas to liquid density and Lockhart Martinelli parameter values increased. A simple de Leeuw type data fit on the CEESI JIP data (i.e. at a Lockhart Martinelli parameter range of up to 0.18) allowed the 4" 0.5 beta ratio orifice plate meter system to predict the gas flow rate of the wet gas flow to +-5percent.
