The emergence of computer and network technology has provided opportunities for researchers to construct and build systems to support dynamic, real-time and seamless collaborative engineering design in a concurrent manner. This paper presents an understanding of the cooperative/collaborative design in a distributed environment in which design resources are distributed in different geographic locations. Our research emphases in this paper are: (i) Model a cooperative/collaborative design process, (ii) Synchronize cooperative design activities, and (iii) Coordinate various design views from engineering disciplines.
