MASTER PRODUCTION SCHEDULING FOR THE MASS CUSTOMIZATION ENVIRONMENT-A CASE STUDY

As given actual or anticipated demand requirements, a master production schedule(MPS) is concerned about specifying production quantities for end product for specific time-periods of the planning horizon. Mass Customization(MC) relates to the ability to provide customized products through flexible processes and supply networks in high volumes and at reasonably low costs. This article extends the work that the other researchers had done to a rolling horizon MPS model for production systems with multiple production lines in the mass customization environment. Thus the article develops a rolling horizon master production schedule under a mass environment for production systems, and illustrates the use of the model by applying it to a lamp and lantern company.
