MEASURING MECHANICAL PROPERTIES USING DIGITAL IMAGE CORRELATION: EXTRACTING TENSILE AND FRACTURE PROPERTIES FROM A SINGLE SAMPLE
A combined approach towards determining linear elastic tensile and fracture properties from a single sample through Digital Image Correlation is presented. The approach, which combines the Virtual Fields Method for tensile properties and a field fitting technique for the fracture properties, is applied to a single sample. The properties determined from the surface displacements of a simple notched disk loaded in compression are presented and compared to properties obtained through standard testing methods.
