A study on plastic behavior, ductility and toughness of a X100 line pipe steel before and after prestraining was carried out experimentally. It was found that all properties in the rolling direction (L) were better than in the long transverse direction (T). Prestrain by 6% along the T direction deteriorated the ductility of tensile bars by 3 to 7% in L and T loading, but strongly reduced toughness of CT specimens: 28% for the L-T configuration and 40% for the T-L configuration.
