In the present study, the effect of strain on the crystallization kinetics of the Vit-1 bulk amorphous alloy in supercooled liquid state has been investigated using thermal analysis (DTA), dilatometer and EXAFS. It shows that strain induces the structural disordering at initial stage of straining, increasing the resistance to crystallization. On the other hand, there is an increase in the degree of short range ordering with annealing time. These short-range ordered regions can act as pre-existing nuclei, accelerating the crystallization kinetics. These opposing effects of strain and annealing controls the crystallization kinetics of the alloy strained in supercooled liquid state.
