Software reliability is helpful for determining if software has displayed sufficient stability during development testing to transition to an operational test environment. Software reliability growth models are a widely used technique for determining if the software has demonstrated a trend towards software reliability growth during development testing to warrant release for operational use. These models require that several assumptions be made which may not be valid for all applications. This paper considers other growth modeling techniques that are not all subject to the same assumptions and are based on the distribution of the data.
