Workflow is an important and valuable technology. This document explains workflow system's fundamentals, its components and its classification, it points out the advantages of an embedded workflow management system and analyze the strengths in process improvement. It shows in detail the purchasing process of goods and services, its particular characteristics and the critical points where advantages of workflow implementation impact drastically productivity and cost reduction of the largest power supplier in America Latina.
