Japanese Recycling System of Precious Metals from Discarded Mobile Phone

Currently, in Hong Kong, Thailand etc. the shredded parts of mobile phones are provided as commercial products. This means that the discarded parts are reused and reduced, which is ideal for recycling of used products. However, in Japan the situation is different. Materials recycling of these products are the main alternative. Usage of the used mobile phones is a worldwide issue. Thus, all the metallic parts of mobile phones have to be reused by using smelting and purification techniques. The recycled materials are then used to fabricate new electronic items for other electronic products. This paper is a short introduction of the recycling system of precious metals from the discarded mobile phones, currently available in Japan.
