摘要

Antonio da Correggio (1494-1534) was an Italian Renaissance painter whose innovations in depicting space and movement anticipated the baroque style. He studied painting in Modena and his work was influenced by Andrea Mantegna and Leonardo da Vinci. In this work, the scientific study of an easel painting, a Madonna with the Child and Sant John, supposedly painted by Correggio is presented. The identification of artist's materials is currently performed by vibrational spectroscopic techniques, Infrared and Raman spectroscopies mainly. It can be said that infrared spectroscopy has been applied in almost all kind of artworks and antique artefacts studies [1-2]. Infrared spectroscopy can be applied to both organic and inorganic material determination. Among all different devices, mid infrared spectroscopy in transmission mode, nowadays with Fourier transform (FTIR), has been the most used one.
