An Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) system includes its sensor, measuring circuit and image reconstruction algorithm is described in this paper. An AC-based capacitance circuit is introduced because it is stray-immune and small capacitance can be measured. A revised regularization image reconstruction algorithm is adopted in ECT system, and it has the advantage of good quality for reconstructed image. The ECT system was used to imaging three typical two-phase flow regimes, these are stratified, core and annular flows. The preliminary experimental results show ECT system has advantage as regards two-phase flow visual monitoring.
