Experimental Demonstration of the New Technology of Medical Sr-89 Production in Solution Reactor

1. Introduction: Strontium-89 is used in nuclear medicine as a bone pain palliative agent for patients with bone metastasizes. Today two ways of~ 89Sr commercial production are used, differing by productivity and a type of reactor in which the target radioisotope is produced. The most wide-spread is the way of ~89Sr production in the reaction of radiation capture ~88Sr(n,a)~89Sr in thermal reactor. Another way is based on the threshold reaction ~89Y(n,p)~89Sr in a fast reactor. Both ways have a low productivity and a high cost price of the final product.
