Multi-interdisciplinary Approach in the Paleoenvironmental Reconstruction Study in Brazil

Introduction: Paleoenvironmental reconstructions in the tropics are carried out through multidisciplinary approach and yield to regional paleoclimatic settings. In Brazil they proved to be powerful in various areas (Absy et al., 1991; Ledru et al., 1996; Behling et al., 2000; Sifeddine et al., 2001) and sometimes lead to validate new paleoenvironmental proxies (Jacob et al., 2004). However, results issued from pollen and carbon isotopes from soil organic matter (SOM) records were rarely compared on a same area during the same time interval.
