In this paper a several mathematical models of 3-2-1 locating scheme geometric accuracy for prismatic parts and the associated algorithms are proposed. The statistical prediction of the locating accuracy is more realistic because the geometric models of the fixture modules are considered, by comparison with the case of theoretical point of contact between a locator and the workpiece (fixel point approximation). The results of Monte Carlo simulations are presented and the most popular modular fixture systems with holes and dowels are compared.
